Malibu is a spectacularly beautiful town that’s widely known for its laidback coastal lifestyle with fun beach activities. While this reputation is true, there’s more to see and do in Malibu than just sitting on a beach. From its fantastic surfing waves to wine safari to great shopping at the Malibu County Mart, there’s more to do than you can imagine. Hopefully, this list helps you get started.

Go for sightseeing at Escondido Falls

Considered as one of the tallest in the Santa Monica Falls with a height of 150 feet, Escondido Falls is a big attraction for both locals and tourists alike. The falls is an amazing sight to behold and is usually full of water except during the hotter seasons where you’re unlikely to find much water. Nevertheless, it’s a fantastic fun hike that’s worth it either way.

Visit the Iconic Beaches

One of the incredible places to visit in Malibu is its amazing beaches as there is a range of options to choose from. Visit the El Matador State beach to see the rock formations and enjoy the romantic atmosphere with your partner, or you can step onto the fine sands of Zuma beach which is one of the most popular beaches with families. Alternatively, you can ride the waves at Surfrider beach or walk along the pier. And don’t also forget to discover the Westward beach and Leo Carrillo beach.

Santa Monica beach is also a short drive from Malibu.

Shop, dine and play at the Malibu County Mart

Ever wonder where the rich and famous in Malibu hit up to splurge on upscale brands? The answer is: in Malibu County Mall. It is the center of shopping, playing and dining in Malibu, offering you the opportunity to get pampered, fix your car, purchase a designer gown for an upcoming party, enjoy a delicious meal, watch movies under the stars during the summer and much more.

Malibu Coastal Adventures

There’s more to do when you visit than just swim or sunbathe – you can have a coastal adventure on the water the Malibu way. Malibu Coastal Adventures offers a range of options including boat trip, surfing lessons, paddle boarding lessons, scuba diving, whale watching, and fishing trips. You can also choose to take in the beautiful sight of the aquatic life on a cruise along the coastline.

Visit Adamson House

Built in 1929, Adamson House is a national historic site which is designed after the Spanish Colonial Revival-style House. You can take a guided tour of the home to see the history of Malibu at the beginning of the 20th century as well as learn about the family that built it.

Explore Getty Villa

A former residence of Paul Getty, Getty Villa is a work of art built to look like a 1st-century Italian villa. It is a sister property to the J. Paul Getty Museum which houses a collection of more than 44,000 Roman, Greek and Etruscan artefacts. Although admission to the villa is free, you might need to get timed-entry tickets and pay about $15 for parking.

Have a view of the Solstice Canyon

Located in the Santa Monica Mountains, Solstice Canyon is a charming trail that features a year-round waterfall and a stunning view of the ocean. Options for easy, moderate and strenuous hikes to access the site are available, and you can enjoy a picnic on the way. The main attraction in the canyon is the remains of a stone cottage (believed to date back to 1865) which was destroyed by a wildfire.

Visit Wine Safari

One of the places you don’t want to miss when you visit the Santa Monica Mountains is the 1,000 acre of Saddlerock vineyard where you can drink wine and go on a remarkable wine safari.  On your way across the vineyard, you will find Zebras, giraffes, and alpacas which you can feed.

Finally, Malibu is indeed a beautiful town many rich and famous people call home; it sure has something unique for everyone.
