Things to do in the Philippines

When you go to visit Philippine, you will be surprised to see the beautiful beaches that are full of the white sand and some of the jolly Philippines who will gladly invite you into this place. If you go to Southeast part of Asia you will find a lot of tourists are moving to this area to spend their holidays with the Filipinos. Enjoying the rich Filipino culture is what drives many tourists to this area as well as the traditional delicacies found in Philippines which you will find it to be mouth watering. If this is not enough, you will the find the natives of Philippines have warm and welcoming hearts which will only add flavor to your visit.

Trying to start understanding the whole of Philippines and the Filipino culture just before you go for your visit can be hectic at times, however, most of the Filipinos are quite eloquent in English and can assist you find your way around this area but you will be surprised to go to some of the rural areas of Philippines only to meet with people who do not understand English. You need not to worry but only get to understand just the basics of Filipino language and you will get the assistance you need, the locals will even make an effort of teaching you more of their culture and language since they are already impressed with your attempt.

When you want to great a Filipino, you will be required to say “Mabuhay”. This has been a mode of greeting amongst the Filipinos and it is a way of one saying to you how happy they are since you have arrived in their area and wish you a longer stay and life. Many locals love this mode of greeting and they will always make sure that you are welcomed with lots of respect, friendly and warm smiles that come along with hospitality.

“Magandang umaga” is the mode of greeting of the Filipinos to welcome you into a new day. “Magandang” means good or superb or beautiful whereas “umaga” is a phrase used to refer to as morning. “Magandang hapon ”however refer to as good afternoon whereas good evening is referred to as “magandang gabi.”

The Filipinos are very helpful and you will be surprised at how informative they are. They will not hesitate to offer any assistance that you may ask for, although they understand bit of English instead of saying thank you they would prefer if you said it in their native language. If you need to say thank you instead say “salamat po” and this will excite the one that has helped you.

If you are in Philippines and you are not sure of the place you need to go you can as well excuse yourself and humbly ask a Filipino “saan po ang..” followed by the name of place that you were heading to. The locals will still be happy to assist even if you only say the name of your destination in English.

If your time to part with Philippines has arrived then you can say to the locals “paalam po” which simply means goodbye or you can as well say to them “mahal ko kayo” which refers to ‘I love you all’ in the Filipino native language which some of the closest friends and family members say to each other when they want o part their ways.
